3d Animation “Bedroom”
Bedroom is an animation I made in Maya at Virginia Commonwealth University. The assignment was to create an animated still life. I built this piece from the perspective around the concept of common childhood fears. It was Halloween when I was putting this together, so of course I had to create something a little spooky. What’s more disturbing- the watcher outside your home or the being inside it? The video is shown through the perspective of the voyeur and tells the story primarily through camera movement and audio.
360 Portfolio Gallery
I created a 360 / VR gallery room to showcase some of my portfolio work in illustration, animation, and short-form video editing. Miscellaneous 3D renders
I love learning new techniques in Maya or Blender. I enjoy modeling, but definitely get the most excited once I hit the texturing + lighting stage. The right materials and shading make all the difference in 3D works! Here are some miscellaneous stills from my 3D experiments.
Just some grapes. I loved the challenge of subsurface scattering on the grape skin.
Marbles. I enjoyed the process of creating this multidimensional shadow from the internal material.
Ah yes, the good ol’ Blender donut. I’ve been learning Blender since it’s been exploding in popularity, and is a great free alternative to Maya.
3D + Photography
I love creating surreal portraits in Photoshop. For this I combined photography with a 3D glass rose.
An early test image for the VR gallery project shown above. Lighting makes such a huge difference on the ambiance and general feel of a project, so I always try a few variations before settling on a look.
